Hanaemaki

Yoko Yamamoto gloriously sings of Japanese identity which can be called our enigmatic spatial sense extending back to the ancient Japan. The fantaises and the devillishness from the ancient times encounter with Yoko's beautiful voice and her delicate emotion to become a mysterious, yet vulnerable flower dancing around.

Introduction

01. Tadasu-izumi-no-mori
Yoko sings melancholic melodies laced with Japanese traditional flavor which get united with her silky voice. This is the world of Yoko Yamamoto and her HANAEMAKI (flower picture scroll) which now gently begins to unfold.

02. Kamiari-tuki
Eight million Gods getting together in the neglected forest and they are intoxicated on this awesome, lavish banquet, this hottest all-night-long rock ’n’ roll party.

03. Hagoromo
A plumage is flapping in the wind from the lake. This is an otherworldly ballad tune singing about a woman’s fascination with her love.

Hana-kotoba
A romantic love affair narrated by the flower language. Sometimes showing shyness, sometimes being passionate, the sound of Japanese koto tells a romantic love story with its pureness and vulnerability.

05. Asagao-no-natu
A nostalgic scenery where the Japanese summer festival is going on. This nostalgic pop tune is filled with poetry and your heartbreaking memory on that particular day in the past.

06. Higurashi
The sound of Higurashi is disappearing into the summer evening. The ceremonious, beautiful chorus seduces you into going inside the mystical otherworldly place that’s situated beyond the darkness.

07. Haru-nareba
The sound of Higurashi is disappearing into the summer evening. The ceremonious, beautiful chorus seduces you into going inside the mystical otherworldly place that’s situated beyond the darkness.

08. Yawa-no-tuki
The woman’s strength and resiliency are impressive when she tries to overcome the loss of her lover and the sadness which causes as if she is an energetic sprouting bud in the spring.

10. Yufuzutu
There are an innumerable amount of stars in the night sky. Even if you wish upon a shooting star, her bitter love affair can easily disappear at any moment. Yoko sings about an unrequited love in her delicate and vulnerable way.

11. Hana-ikada
A warabe-uta (Japanese old children song) echoes through a dream?like, illusional cosmos. The beautiful chorus is depicting a beautifully ephemeral dawn that moves you.
